Daniel Sherington is a Meanjin/Magandjin based artist whose practice speculates around the production and circulation of art. These speculations are critically focused toward the consequences of coloniality and capitalism. Daniel’s work is interdisciplinary in nature, filtering traditional processes of making with a digital means of production.  Drawing is often used in his practice as a starting point to build digital assets that can be iterated, reworked and dispersed amongst new contexts and materials to adopt different meanings.

Daniel graduated from the Queensland College of Art in a Bachelor of Visual Art (Expanded Practice) with First Class Honours and a University Medal. He was a joint recipient of the 2021 Honours Visual Arts MAVA Industry Award. He has exhibited at Onespace Gallery, Outerspace, Redlands Art Gallery, Metro Arts and the Institute of Modern Art. He has been a finalist in a variety of prizes including the Churchie Emerging Art Prize 2022, STILL: National Still Life Art Prize 2021 and 2019, Fisher’s Ghost Art Award 2021 and 2019, Brisbane Portrait Prize 2019 and Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize 2021. He is part of the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery collection and private collections in Australia and France.
